Who we are
The Kiwanis Club of Ottawa-Vanier is a volunteer service organization. We independently
organize and administer fundraising and community service activities.
What we do
Kiwanians raise funds to help those less fortunate than ourselves. Members also donate
their time providing volunteer services for the betterment of the
community. Projects for young children
are our main focus.
Commitment
All members are invited to meet every 1st & 3rd
Thursday evening of the month, over dinner to plan club projects and enjoy guest
speakers and special events. Members are also encouraged to participate on the
board of
directors and on committees. The amount of time committed depends entirely on you.

What Kiwanis
can do for you
Kiwanis enables members to develop lasting friendships, to participate in mentorship and
networking opportunities, while allowing you to get involved in the community you call
home.
Informative and entertaining speakers bring fresh ideas, and a new perspective to our
meetings. Participating in Kiwanis can help you develop valuable leadership skills and
provide you with a sense of personal fulfillment.
What you can do for Kiwanis
All members are welcome to participate in weekly meetings and club functions. Strengthen
Kiwanis by lending your own special talents and skills where they are needed. New ideas
are always encouraged in planning community events. Members can also bring friends to join
in the Kiwanis family and keep the club growing.
Six great reasons to become a Kiwanian:
- Involvement in the community
- Quality fellowship and friendship
- Leadership role in the community
- Prestige and personal sense of accomplishment
- Opportunity to give something back to the
community
- Professional contacts

Objects
of Kiwanis
The six permanent Objects of Kiwanis
International were approved by Kiwanis club delegates at the 1924 Convention in Denver,
Colorado. Through the succeeding decades, they have remained unchanged.
- To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather
than to the material values of life.
- To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule
in all human relationships.
- To promote the adoption and the application of
higher social, business, and professional standards.
- To develop, by precept and example, a more
intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.
- To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical
means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better
communities.
- To cooperate in creating and maintaining that
sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness,
justice, patriotism, and goodwill.
